The Construction of Edge-lit LED Panel Light
LED panel lights usually consist of several parts:

This structure of LED panel light is edge-lit type,it has ultrathin thickness(10mm).
● Light-emitting diode bead(LED bead) is a semiconductor light source. It is a light-emitting device that directly converts electrical energy into light energy, as well as electrical signals into light signals; The main structure includes fluorescent powder, gold thread, lens, LED chip, plastic tube housing, heat sink, and substrate. It has many advantages such as low power consumption, high brightness, bright colors, anti-vibration, long life, cold light source, etc.
At present, most of the LED beads use metal material as the substrate, and it has good thermal conductivity and heat dissipation performance. But for high-power LED beads, the metal substrate will affect the conversion rate of photo-electricity; heat dissipation performance is also not strong. This will easily cause the aging of the internal LED chip and fluorescent powder, and then shorten the lifetime. So some of high-power LED beads use ceramic metal substrate instead of metal material substrate.
● Light guide plate is a high transmittance plate with light guide dots printed on an optical grade acrylic/PC sheet. It refracts the LED light from the side through the dot to ensure the light is exported from the front evenly.
Its principle is to use an optical grade acrylic plate to absorb the light emitted from the LED beads to stay on the surface of the plate, when the light is shot to each guide point, the reflected light will spread to all angles, and then be shot from the front of the guide plate.
Light guide plate is the key point of LED panel light quality control. If the light guide dot design is not qualified, then the overall uniformity of the luminescence seen will be very poor.
● The main function of the diffuser plate is to spread the irregular light beam evenly. It has three different materials: PC, acrylic (PMMA), or PS. PC diffusion panels are more commonly used, as it has impact resistance, anti-aging, and excellent flame retardant properties.
● PET reflective sheet reflect the light exposed on the bottom surface back into the light guide plate.It is used to improve the efficiency of the light. The material of the aluminum frame and back plate is usually 6063, and the aluminum frame is the main channel for LED heat dissipation.

Which construction is fit for my project?
First of all, check the space of installation whether meets the requirements. The edge-lit panel light height is 10mm, but the back-lit panel light height is 30mm or above.
Second, the material cost of them is very different. Edge-lit’s cost is higher than direct-lit as it has a light guide plate and diffuser plate, while back-lit only uses the lens. The edge-lit LED panel lights are more advantageous in terms of overall performance.
In general, the mid and high-end market prefers edge-lit LED panel light, while back-lit LED panel light is fit for an economical solution as the material construction is simple.
The colour temperature of LED panel light
What is the color temperature?
Color temperature is a unit of measurement that indicates the color component contained in light. The color temperature refers to the absolute black body from absolute zero (minus 273 degrees celsius) after the beginning of heating the color presented. The unit of measurement is “K” (Kelvin). If the light emitted by a certain light source, and a certain temperature of the light emitted by the black body contains the same spectral components, that is, known as the K value of the color temperature. For example, the color of light from a 100 W incandescent bulb is the same as the color of the absolute black body at 2527 K. Then the color temperature of this bulb is: 2527 K + 273 K = 2800 K.
From the conventional description, the color temperature can be described by 3 ranges warm white, natural white, and cool white.
●The approximate range of warm white is from 2800 K to 3500 K. Recommended to use in cozy spaces such as bedrooms.
● The approximate range of natural white is from 4000 K to 5500 K. Recommended for commercial spaces such as shopping malls, hotels, restaurants, and offices.
●The approximate range of cool white is from 6000 K to 6800 K. It is recommended for use in spaces that need to be clear and bright such as studios and warehouses.
